Rook is naturally not a loud sort, with a natural instinct to stand back and observe, analyze; sometimes to an unfortunate degree of caution. Under the surface, his observing and caution lead to overthinking, turning things over and over in his mind, anxiety pressing in. He must not look foolish - he must not look afraid - an ever-turning cycle.


History: 

A result of a tryst between Lady Umbra and a duke stag, Corvus, Rook was swiftly deposited on his grandparents on his dam's side - Lord Elatha, and Duchess Eire. Raised primarily by his grandparents, his childhood was interspersed with occasional visits from both blood parents; most awkward and strange visits from his mother, who would stand as far away as physically possible, or sometimes stare at him almost blankly.

Thus theirs is an awkward and strained relation, neither seeming to know what exactly to think of the other; his mother thought him more favored by her parents - true or not -, and him knowing he was deposited to be raised by them rather than her. 

As well, Rook's sire has proven not to be the most stable minded stag- neurotic, paranoid- and Rook has inherited some form of this, in his anxiety. Visits from him were marked with the stag's ever-present paranoia. 

In the year of 1999, the Austerian Tournament of Champions (for help in selection of a king) were held, Duke Rook bid himself for King, and participated in the Mage's Duel, as well as the Queen's Joust. He placed and faired well, but in the end the Queen's selection lay elsewhere. Rook returned to his home.

In the winter of that same year, Duke Rook happened to hear a ruckus one night, discovering a shaggy linx bjorn in amongst his petunias. After the startle, Rook invited the bjorn- Brynnjar in, and the bjorn has been in his home ever since...!

Over the course of the year 2000, Brynjarr was glued to the Duke's hip and the pair were never very far apart; a rather odd romance sprouted, in the Winter of 2000, afearing Brynjarr would soon leave, Duke Rook purposed.

In the year 2001, the pair tried their best to help in the formaris crisis, but neither had any luck; when the magic faded that winter, the two finally were married.
